Enid Great To Have These Books?

Quick, how many of these books have you read or used to own?

Ah, Enid Blyton. So many memories of faraway lands on top of trees, slippery slips, Saucepan men, moonfaces, chairs with wings on their legs, secret and famous kid detectives, find-outers, naughty girls, unpolitically-correct toys, and talking rabbits and other assorted animals with Brer in their name.

I used to have so many of them. Now, this is all I have. Sigh....

Everytime I see these books or everytime someone talks about it, I feel I must tell this story.

Throughout my childhood life I though the author was called Gnid Blyton because, bloody hell that's what it looked like.

I only learnt the correct name when I was 20 years old.

My mother refused to buy me any enid blyton books. So i had to buy myself or ask as present from relatives etc. My favourite was the famous five, tho i kind of cringed at my namesake

Wow...what nostalgic moments you're bringing to many here :) Secret Seven and Famous Five were my favourites. Pretty classic collections you have there, could be worth something in the open market ya know?

SELL THESE? No way! These books are almost as old as I am! These are the only ones I managed to save after my mom gave them away when we were moving house. All those Secret SEven and Famous Five books... GONE. *sob*

I still have mine and all intact planning to hand them over when I have kids... some are dated back editions as I got them from my mom and grandmother :)

Yah I used to have the full set of Famous Five and Secret Seven as well..

No idea where they are now, probably traded them in for something else, couldn't afford to keep them all in those days.

i got all my enid blyton books from my dad's teacher's grandchildren. and when i outgrew them, they were passed down to my cousins. some are still scattered in various relatives' houses and others now entertain the kids at a daycare centre my aunt works in. in a way i'm glad they continue to bring joy to children's lives, but a part of me wishes i kept them all to myself.

gollywogs, dicks and fannys! lol.

Ooh! A secret Enid Blyton fan club! I loved almost everything she wrote. All the detective/mystery stuff, the fantasy (Faraway tree, random golliwog stories), Circuses, and even the schools (st. Claire's and Mallory Towers). Brings back some great memories - Christian
